I started reading things to brush up on history。 These are nice because they are a brief summary of the person and their role in history。 Adult books tend to be a little too detailed and dry for my taste。

I like how this book is written。 It’s a lot easier for me to understand than when reading the bigger adult books。

Excellent short read on a man's life who was just as complicated as it was interesting。 Reading this book inspired me to purchase and watch the motion picture "Lincoln" directed by Steven Spielberg。 After watching the film, it mentions that it was based on a book "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin。 I also own this book but at the moment I have not read it yet。 Excellent short read on a man's life who was just as complicated as it was interesting。 Reading this book inspired me to purchase and watch the motion picture "Lincoln" directed by Steven Spielberg。 After watching the film, it mentions that it was based on a book "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin。 I also own this book but at the moment I have not read it yet。 。。。more

The illustrations are wonderful as well and represent the book very well。 Overall, this book gets a 5-star rating for me for being both educational and interesting to students。 。。。more

I loved learning about this president and how he had basically one year of schooling and became one of the greatest and most honored presidents。 It's sad that only 1 of his sons lived to be an adult。 The parts about slavery kind of went over my head in some parts, but still a great book。 !!! Hundreds of books have been written on various topics of Abraham Lincoln's life。 This is a nice synopsis of his many accomplishments。 There are various side comments/short stories included in this book that add a greater knowledge to the reader about the times in which Abraham lived。 I especially liked the short story about him having depression。 Older books would never have mentioned this as the disease was thought to show his weakness。 Whomever reads this book will learn many of the aspects of Hundreds of books have been written on various topics of Abraham Lincoln's life。 This is a nice synopsis of his many accomplishments。 There are various side comments/short stories included in this book that add a greater knowledge to the reader about the times in which Abraham lived。 I especially liked the short story about him having depression。 Older books would never have mentioned this as the disease was thought to show his weakness。 Whomever reads this book will learn many of the aspects of life in the nineteenth century。 This is a worthwhile book to read but there is no real earth shaking new information that has not been covered in the various other books about his life。 。。。more

A classic semi biography。 I enjoy the "bobble head" books。 They serve as good entertainable historical education for elementary aged students。 Something I learned in this book that I did not previously know was that Abraham Lincoln was a Lawyer and yet he did not go to school! Genre: BiographyGrande Range: 2nd-4th gradeReview: This is a good book to introduce the class to Abraham Lincoln! I think this would be a good way to have projects about him, that way kids can see different facts about him if the students each had a different fact to learn about him!

The usual from this wonderful children series。 I’ve read about ten of them。 Simple language, short, informative, enjoyable, but not anything deep。

Kids review:“It was a good book。 The most sad part is when he died。 I thought Abraham Lincoln’s boys were funny。 I knew some things about him already but did learn some new things in this book。 One thing I learned is that he never scolded his kids。 I think he was courageous, focused, and calm。”
